Nicole Fix, Clinical Social Work/Therapist, LMSW
I hold a Licensed Masters of Social Work - Clinical in the state of Michigan. My background involves counseling individuals and families experiencing acute and chronic mental health issues, including symptoms of anxiety, mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder, pre- and postpartum struggles, and personality disorders. I have worked extensively with adolescents, young adults, and adults, including supporting families through crises and transitions. Additionally, I have provided treatment both individually, with families, and within groups in private practice and crisis stabilization settings. I support clients wanting to create meaningful relationships, with extra focus on the relationship with themselves; grow trust; gain confidence; and feel a sense of belongingness in this world.
My philosophy embraces cultivating a life based on self-love, compassion, and acceptance for ourselves and our experiences. Part of my therapeutic process focuses on growing my clients’ relationships with themselves as a way to better understand their inner thoughts, feelings, and motivations. Additionally, concentrating on the development of self-empathy is part of the therapeutic process. I enjoy supporting my clients in learning how to love themselves for all of their unique aspects, even those areas that may be difficult. My approach combines an eclectic blend of cognitive behavioral therapy, self-compassion, motivational interviewing, dialectical behavioral interventions, internal family systems, psychodynamic theory, and Jungian concepts. One of my beliefs is that the way out of suffering is walking through it safely and compassionately all while finding meaning within both the dark times and the joyful times. Further, client strengths are always explored and affirmed throughout treatment. My clients’ goals, the relationship we develop, and the process used is unique to each client.
I am a lecturer, author, and spiritual teacher. I have lectured on the rise of the feminine attribute in addition to the internal power people have to be agents of change. I spent three years writing a bimonthly column on Emotional Health for Star Nations Magazine and I look forward to sharing some of my articles within my upcoming blog. I sit on the Advisory Circle of the Gathering Thunder Foundation as the Director of Peace and Social Welfare. I am a Reiki Master and Ama Deus healer. Currently, I am collaborating on a workshop centered around ancestral wisdom and healing, which serves to explore the connection between inherited family trauma and our health. I have additional education on integrative and nutritional interventions for mental health disorders that I willingly share with clients interested in learning more about this approach. Also, I have additional experience working with individuals during pre- and postpartum times manage the demands of parenthood. Developing and evolving as an individual and professional are central to who I am and the work I do. I am committed to my growth as much as I am to yours.
